RickyReviews
As a newspaper Review columnist and Indie Artist
I strongly recommend that you not involve yourself in any
ReverbNation Promotions or the like.
I already made that mistake and it cost me over $175.00
Read their promotion below and then I'll explain how misleading the offer
and as many others are.

"Claim Free Promotion"

*Have questions about the free promotion?

Will I have to enter my credit card information? -
Yes, in order to ensure that only musicians who are serious about promoting their music qualify for the trial. Additionally, we've found that ongoing promotion yields the best results for artists like you, and we want to make it easy for you to continue your campaign.
HERE'S WHAT THEY SAY....

What if I decide "Promote It" is not for me? - You can cancel your campaign at any time with the click of a mouse. No calls or emails necessary.
NOT SO

How long do I have to cancel my trial? - You get three days of free promotion. You'll get an email reminder on the 2nd day to cancel if you don't wish to continue. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your credit card will be charged.
NOT SO
(EMAIL REMINDER THAT I NEVER RECEIVED)

What else comes with the free promotion? - To maximize the buzz from your free promotion, you'll also get the Reverb Pro bundle free for 30 days. This includes FanReach email, RPKs, a Mobile App, Digital Distribution and lots more.
You can cancel it at anytime as well.
BALDERDASH
NOT SO
Ok...Let me point out a few issues I have...
I see that the word "FREE" was used seven times yet
this will cost you $25 per week.
In the sentence opener the word
"We're" is used.
Is this a third party or ReverbNation itself?
They don't even give a phone number.
If it's free, then why is a credit card needed?
The "email reminder" never came...
Yes, I clicked my mouse and canceled the promotion
and...
I sent them an email too.
I have since been billed on my credit card 6 times now
They have taken over $175.00 and
this is even after I have had correspondence
with ReverbNation through many emails to
STOP THIS
I should have seen all the "red flags" but I went
ahead and unfortunately bought into their scheme
with much regret.
I DID NOT SELL A SINGLE SONG
EVEN at 50 cents
I have been a member with them for about 4 years now
Always thought highly of them and supported
and even promoted them on my own social club for Indie Artists
www.SocialClubCentral.com
SocialClubCentral Promotes for FREE
I am very saddened by this as I always thought their reputation preceded them
I am still trying to get my monies back and I must say
They are stubborn and unforgiving
What ever happened to
"The Customer Is Always Right?"
I highly recommend that you pass on these so called promotions as I am initiating an ALERT and any that follow
Oh yes...there are other many RN promotions
But they always say...

ReverbNation Team

Submission requires a free ReverbNation account and active subscription to ReverbNation Press Kits.

That active subscription will cost You

So....is this really FREE ....

NOT

We at www.SocialClubCentral.com deplore this "fill you with hope" kind of candy floss advertising.

They sell Candy Floss promotions that truly dip into your bank account with little or no results and NO REGARD. Oh yes...most all do

OK...get this...

I am no great big time talent in regards to what is out there

How is it that I am beating out Beyonce and many other greats, in their "so called "rating system" and not making a dime? You don't see RickyFingerz dazzling the Super Bowl with my talent

What has RN ever done for YOU?

We are tired of this and so should you be.

I have informed RN, that if they did not refund my hard earned monies, that my campaign to expose them would prevail.

Yet they still say...

"The monies have already been allocated for this promotion...This matter is closed"

Plz pass this info on to all that are trying to "make it" in this cruel world of false advertising. You deserve better.

You have paid your dues

You have clicked your brains out

....and to what end?

Look for my upcoming campaign against them in Facebook.

I am truly sorry for those that have been sucked into these kinds of BS promotions. Most all offer pipe dreams,

I just wish to inform and ask you to be aware.

***********************  UPDATE

RN has for the most part been pretty good. It's Andrew Sutherland of accounting that needs to step down. Maybe he should just get fired. He refuses to answer emails stating "This matter is closed"

This is not the way you handle situations concerning PR.

We have even asked him to forward some emails to admin in a higher position at RN to try & rectify this matter...still no answer. This blog to expose the cons of the industry will prevail as a result.

Hi everyone, I thought I would share this info with you today, my apoligies for the F word but thats how I feel about the situation.

I'm well PIST OFF with REVERBNATION ,just to let you ALL know if you get into a dispute with Reverbnation regarding any monthly subs which REVERBNATION take from your account after you have Cancelled the subs & request a refund, you will very quickly find that your chart position will very quickly VANISH, I always knew what they were like but this just confirms what other Artists on the site have been saying for a LONG TIME, no matter how good you are REVERBNATION ONLY SEE YOU AS A CASH COW and if you're NOT willing to keep up with making them RICH then YOUR FUCKED ........This is the end of the road for me as far as using Reverbnation on a regular basis, does anyone else have any other site that I can go to without the shit !!!

We use Reverbnation for 2 things.  They have a great Facebook Wiget and a great Android App.  This kind of "selling the dream" thing has been going on since the 90's. Can you say TAXI and A&R Select to name 2.  As far as their ability to "help" bands you have to take a minute and think about it. I've sat in the office of a entertainment lawyer in New York (yes there were gold records on the wall) and this is what he said to me.  There are more or less 3 people you pay, radio trackers, publicists and sometimes overseas reps for your band/artist.  That's it.  Everyone else gets commission.  The next thing is "what is Reverbnation here to do".  Make money for themselves not "break bands".  Knowledge is power folks.  Do your homework.  Did you see any success stories, did you contact any of them?  Or contact Reverbnation themselves about the success rate or how they reach out to industry? It's Reverbnation you can contact anyone on it!   Did you look into the BBB? They sometimes have lists and info on NON members too. Who remembers Creed?  I have first hand knowledge that it cost the band over $1,000,000 to "break them".  If it costs $250,000 to get a Rihanna song from concept to #1 do you think Reverbnation is going to do it for $24.95? If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.  Everytime I see a "free" promo and they ask for your credit card it's not free. We get the "opportunity notifications" too.  I just contact them directly.  No one is going to work harder for your band/artist then YOU! If there is an email address use it.  A lot of big time booking agents, managers, and record labels will respond to your emails.  It may take awhile.  Make a list of people that you want involved in you music.  Contact them you'll be surprised at who get back to you with helpful information.  That being said I still thank Ricky for bringing this to people's attention and I think more people need to be aware of these scams and perhaps someday there will be less of them.

Thank You Steve...this only adds to the unscrupulous tactics that they employ. Most artists are just barely scratching their way financially and cannot afford to pay such exorbitant prices to "get themselves out there" while the high profile artists would not even touch this or any of their promotions be it 1st hand, 2nd hand or 3rd party. Thank you so much for this heads up. If anyone would like to read more on this just click this link

Kudos to the ones that come forth to expose ReverbStagNation.

THANKS everrrr so much Ricky for the Alert Warning. I have often been frustrated with RN, as I have made no sales there, except for revenue with their ad-sharing/streaming dept. ... *and* equally frustrated with their ranking system, the ups & downs of it ... have often wanted a press kit, but could not keep up the ongoing fee every single month...shoot ... why don't they allow every member to come in & receive a press kit, or for a nominal one-time fee maintain a press kit ongoing? FREE doesn't mean "free" to these guys ... :P

RN has it's good points and bad point like all social networks. It should not be your home-base for your music. It's best to have your own website, so you can have complete control over your music.

Cheers!

T Dawn
